What will you be doing? 
The Intertek Allentown site is looking for a Sample Coordinator to join its growing business. The Sample Coordinator is a critical part of the team managing samples submitted by our clients. This team is responsible for sample logistics (including shipping and receiving of samples), entering sample information into a laboratory project tracking system, disposing of samples upon completion of testing, managing laboratory waste, and tracking projects conducted at partner labs.

The individual performing this role also has a key responsibility with communication. The individual must communicate clearly and effectively with his/her colleagues and internal and external clients. To effectively perform this role, regular attendance and punctuality are required. It is also expected that the individual will act in a courteous and professional manner, and comply with company, safety, and regulatory policies and procedures.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Unpacks, identifies, logs and marks client’s samples and packages using standard procedures
  • Performs chain of custody documentation when necessary
  • Communicates with clients and sales and technical teams to obtain information missing with shipments
  • After test completion, performs disposition tasks according to customer requirements, which may include return shipping or disposal of samples
  • Packages, ships, and tracks outsourced samples
  • Packages, ships, and tracks samples returned to clients
  • Keeps an updated shipping and receiving log
  • Delivers packages (chemicals and supplies) to laboratories located within the building
  • Performs lab waste pickup on a weekly basis
  • Ensures compliance of company/client SOP, protocols, safety policies, methods, or other procedures with government rules and regulations
  • Performs clerical duties in accordance with standard procedures

Intertek's Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals team serves the chemical and pharmaceutical industries with a diverse range of services. Our chemical experts provide testing, consultancy, inspection, to ensure a variety of chemicals are produced efficiently and in compliance to regulatory standards. Our pharmaceutical specialists support drug development and products through contract laboratory services, regulatory guidance, and supply chain assurance.

What qualifications do you need?

  • High School diploma or GED required; AS degree preferred
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment or experience with chemicals is preferred
  • Experience working with a sample or project tracking system is preferred (Laboratory Information Management System)
  • Experience using software packages such as MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Share Point)
  • General knowledge of safety precautions and protocols for safe handling and the disposal of hazardous agents/reagents, chemicals and materials
  • Ability to understand and effectively communicate technical and business information, both oral and written to others, including co-workers, supervisors, and clients
  • Ability to work varied and extended hours/days, as business dictates

Physical Demands

  • Regularly lift/carry/move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift/carry/move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
  • Climb stairs
