Phased Array Level II Inspector

Intertek Engineering Consulting provides Asset Integrity Management and Life Management support to infrastructure, facilities, and equipment through the conception, design, construction, commissioning, operations, and decommissioning phases.  

Intertek provides specialists and engineering support in all areas of Asset Integrity Management, including equipment failure analysis and prevention, reliability, asset management, life prediction, risk analysis, remaining useful life assessments, and cost of operation and maintenance.

Intertek Engineering Consulting is looking for a NDE LEVEL II INSPECTOR, PHASED ARRAY ULTRASONIC INSPECTION (PAUT) based out of our Charlotte, NC location.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct onsite field inspections of power generating assets including wind turbines, power boilers, pressure vessels, power piping, and related critical components.
  • Perform volumetric NDE inspections with advanced phased array ultrasonics
  • Conduct non-destructive (NDT) testing of components and materials in accordance with applicable codes, standards, equipment utilization, specifications, and procedures.
  • Utilize appropriate NDT method to perform NDT inspections, including phased array, shear wave, gamma radiography, x-ray radiography, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, ultrasonic, leak testing and visual inspections.
  • Interpret, evaluate, communicate, and report findings to clients and Intertek engineering team.
  • Interpret and review engineering drawings as required
  • Support the development of NDE inspection techniques for complex geometries
  • Assist in training and developing others within the team
  • Compile results and write technical reports
  • Interface with Failure Analysis and Non-destructive examination specialists.


Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • NDT Level II UT Phased Array Certification
  • EPRI certificate or willing to take
  • Technical background in NDT methods and procedures with five years phased array experience
  • Power industry engineering experience is desirable
  • Ability to travel up to 30-40% travel as an annual average but may be as high as 50-60% during busy seasons.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
  • Track record of getting things done.
  • Excellent communication skills to interface with and understand the needs of our clients.
  • Good report writing and presentation skills to summarize project results and recommendations.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
  • Valid driver’s license
