Intertek is actively seeking a Part-time Quality Assurance Specialist (Nuclear) to join our AIM team in Santa Clara, California. The ideal Quality Assurance Specialist candidate will be outgoing, goal oriented, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

 

Intertek Engineering Consulting provides Asset Integrity Management and Life Management support to infrastructure, facilities, and equipment through the conception, design, construction, commissioning, operations, and decommissioning phases.

Intertek provides specialists and engineering support in all areas of Asset Integrity Management, including design, process safety, mechanical integrity, inspection and maintenance, operational and process support, corrosion, metallurgy, and risk analysis.  Intertek's range of nuclear services provides you with the assurance you need to meet your research, supply chain, technological, regulatory, and plant operation and maintenance needs.  Our global network of laboratories and experts offers engineering support, technology and software, nondestructive and materials testing, consulting, safety and radiation protection, inspection and training services.

The Quality Assurance Specialist (Nuclear) provides a range of quality activities to support the company’s Nuclear Quality Assurance program, which fulfills ASME NQA-1 and other NRC regulatory requirements.

 

Schedule: This is a part-time position estimated at 8-20 hours per week.

 

How you’ll make an impact at Intertek:

  • Ensure quality system, process, and procedures are effective and efficient to meet current business requirements for clients
  • Contribute to the continuous maintenance and improvement of our quality/business management system, including the development, review, and approval of QA procedures, records, and processes
  • Manages the company's quality assurance program; trains, plans, coordinates, and assigns personnel to perform defined QA program roles, including formal internal and external (suppliers, vendors) audits to assure compliance with the Nuclear QA program, customer requirements, and associated regulatory requirements
  • Leads internal audits and related assurance activities
  • Manages corrective action program and facilitates root cause analysis activities
  • Identify non-compliance, share best practices, and develop effective corrective action / improvement plans. Monitor progress of all offices and business units in implementing their plans
  • Reports regularly to the Managing Director to provide QA program status and effectiveness

 

What it takes to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related field (required)
  • 15+ years of experience as a quality manager for an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) or an engineering organization performing nuclear safety-related design and/or analyses.
  • Demonstrated understanding and implementation of quality assurance regulations, standards and guidelines of 10CFR50 Appendix B, 10CFR21, and NQA-1.
  • Ability to lead through influencing others
  • Strong Written and Verbal Communication Skills
  • Estimated commitment of 8-20 hours per week
