Summary:

The IT Support Administrator will support the day-to-day administration of the company systems and networks. The successful candidate will possess a mixed infrastructure skill set and will assist in planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing system and network software. The person will also analyze and resolve end user software program and connectivity issues in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training where required.​

Key Responsibilities:

As part of the IT support team, the candidate will assist in all areas of network and system management. Team responsibilities include:

 

  • Hardware/software setup, rollout and support
  • Administer the company infrastructure, servers and desktop systems (*nix, Windows mix)
  • Setup and administer virtualization solutions
  • Configure and administer firewalls, VPNs, and other items related to corporate IT security
  • Create and maintain detailed system and network documentation
  • Participate in various IT projects
  • Provide end user support and training
  • Provide after-hours emergency support as needed and when available
  • Configure and administer Active Directory
  • Configure and maintain the email infrastructure

Must have or be able to obtain a Government of Canada Secret level security clearance.

Key Knowledge & Skills:

  • 2+​ years of IT support experience
  • A high level of experience with computers under the MS Windows™ and Linux operating environments, including experience with MS Office™ applications.
  • A thorough understanding of IT server operating systems including but not limited to, Microsoft Windows Server and Linux based operating systems.
  • Sound TCP/IP networking knowledge and skills
  • Virtualized environment experience
  • Backup administration
  • Excellent command of the English language
  • Ability to communicate both technically and non-technically
  • Good organizational skills and ability to perform multiple tasks, schedule priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Knowledge & Skills:

  • Nagios or similar NMS experience
  • A Diploma in Computer Technology or equivalent is considered an asset
